PHILADELPHIA: A. Harold Datz, of Philadelphia firm Weitz Garfinkle Datz, LLC, is a guest columnist for this month’s Bar Reporter, the Philadelphia Bar Association’s monthly publication.  Mr. Datz’s column details the goals of the Association’s Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention.

This year marks Mr. Datz’s fourth chairmanship of the Commission, which evaluates judicial candidates and makes recommendations to voters.  Mr. Datz’s column, “Judicial Commission Works to Find the Best,” outlines the importance of the Commission in absence of a merit selection process.  He also praises the work of the Commission’s Investigative Division, which conducts background investigations and interviews and reviews opinions to assists voters.

In addition to chairing the Commission, Mr. Datz has also served in several leadership positions within the local, state and national legal community over the past 25 years.
